Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama is in Zambia for a three-day state visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries.
Mr Mahama was welcomed in the capital, Lusaka, by Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.
He is accompanied by the First Lady, Lordina Dramani Mahama, and a delegation of senior government officials.
The visit is expected to focus on expanding cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, digital technology and innovation, as well as exploring opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
During his stay, President Mahama is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with his Zambian counterpart and address the Zambian National Assembly, where he is expected to outline Ghana’s vision for deeper African integration.
He will also lead a Ghana–Zambia business dialogue, meet members of the Ghanaian community in Lusaka and pay tribute at Embassy Park, a national memorial site honouring Zambia’s fallen heroes.
Officials say the visit underscores Ghana’s commitment to strengthening relations with Zambia and enhancing regional cooperation across southern and west Africa.
